What a masterful, dramatic film this was. The Help was based on a novel. A rude awakening of a novel that was raising awareness for the black women of America set in the fifties. Emma Stone plays the role of a not-so-beautiful girl who was raised by a black woman who was also a maid to her household growing up. She in turn, wants to become a writer and therefore right a book through the eyes of “The Help” in their society, and of course eventually helping boost the change that was drastically made in the world we live in today. Emma Stone was quite brilliant in this movie. Maybe even snagging an Oscar nomination, or at least I’m rooting for her! And I think the same for Viola Davis and Bryce Dallas Howard. Octavia Spencer was outstanding as well. Although the film was rather long, I didn’t even notice until I looked at the time once the movie had ended. Definitely a film worth watching and worth purchasing.
